Mick Guzauski was one of the behind-the-scenes engineers for the famous Daft Punk album Random Access Memories. He also won the Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album with this work. From the album, we can clearly tell how good he is at blending acoustic instruments and electronic dance music elements. The entire work is almost flawless, not to mention its richness in dynamics and texture, and the equalisations of frequencies were so clean, balanced, and full on the spectrum image.
Talking about the recording of the album, he mentioned one of his goals was to keep the instruments as natural as they could, so he tried to use positioning and different mics to achieve the sound he wanted rather than EQing all the stuff. Me, as a person who uses a lot of digital synthesisers as instruments. I have never thought of means like that. It could be really helpful in the future when I am recording things.
